National Chung Cheng University and Burapha University Renewed MOU to Promote International Academic Collaboration

To promote international academic exchange, National Chung Cheng University
(CCU) renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Burapha University
(BUU) of Thailand on June 25th, 2024. This MOU aims not only to further stabilize
academic collaboration but also to forge a long-term, closely collaborative
partnership. The cooperation between the two universities began in 2019, and five
years later, Dr. Marut Tangwattanachuleeporn and Dr. Kulwara Poolpol, Dean and
Vice Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences of BUU, visited CCU to renew the
MOU on behalf of Burapha University.
During the signing ceremony, the MOU was signed by Dr. Shaw-Jeng Tsai, President
of CCU, and Dr. Marut Tangwattanachuleeporn, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health
Sciences of BUU. Dr. Tsai stated that the renewal of the MOU not only witnessed the
two-year stable partnership but also played a significant role in deepening
international cooperation between the two institutions. He looks forward to more
collaborative projects and exchange opportunities in the future, further promoting the
academic development and internationalization of both universities. Dr. Marut
Tangwattanachuleeporn expressed that BUU values its partnership with CCU and
hopes for more in-depth cooperation in various fields, aiming to jointly cultivate
talents with international perspectives and innovative capabilities.
CCU Office of International Affairs pointed out that Burapha University, established
in 1955, is one of the most prestigious public universities in the eastern region of
Thailand. Located in Chon Buri Province, on the eastern coast of the Gulf of
Thailand, BUU is the first public higher education institution in the area. The
university offers 50 undergraduate majors, as well as 30 master’s programs, and 3
doctoral programs. With students coming from over 50 countries and regions all over
the world, BUU stands out as a highly internationalized institution.
CCU Office of International Affairs further explained, through the efforts of Dr. WenChien Lee, honorary professor of the CCU Department of Chemical Engineering, the
MOU between CCU and BUU was signed in 2019, marking the beginning of the
partnership. Since then, the two universities have not only exchanged knowledge and
academic research outcomes but also facilitated short-term internships for outstanding
students from BUU in CCU's College of Science. Numerous exchanges and
collaborations have fostered a bond between the two universities. While the previous
agreement was mainly focused on collaborations with the College of Science, the
latest MOU with BUU aims to broaden opportunities for international exchange
across other departments of CCU.
The renewal of the MOU demonstrated the long-standing partnership between the two
universities. In the near future, in addition to ongoing collaborations in CCU
Departments of Chemical Engineering, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and
Biomedical Sciences, new areas of cooperation are anticipated. It is hoped that
through joint efforts, the two institutions can continue to make academic contributions
to the international society, promote knowledge exchanges between Thailand and
Taiwan, and establish a firm foundation for a sustainable partnership.
